Yesterday August 27, 2024, at the discussion forum “Issues on Human Resource Quality” organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, more than 20 representatives from leading universities, colleges, and enterprises in HCMC attended and shared many heartfelt opinions.
Representing EQuest Group and speaking at the forum, Mr. Nguyen Quang Anh Chuong, Vice Principal of APC HCMC, said: “Students’ choice of education level has not changed much, as most of them still choose to study at universities. Each level of education has its own advantages. With college, the study duration is only 2.5 years, with 70% of the time spent on practical training… In recent years, the school has received recruitment requests from many multinational corporations. This shows that the demand for recruitment is very diverse at different levels. So, the current issue is how to influence learners to choose the appropriate education levels that suit their abilities, family circumstances, and the country’s needs…”
This opinion was met with agreement from the delegates. Many delegates shared the same view that there is a gap between training and the needs of the labor market. The cooperation of training institutions and employers is needed to narrow this gap.
At the forum, leaders of training institutions and enterprises looked back at the key issues of career guidance and enrollment in 2024; trends in students’ choice of majors; whether newly opened majors meet the needs of the labor market; whether the increase in university entrance scores is a sign that training quality will improve; and how to link career guidance with the needs of the labor market…
